Coaches

Meet your Vortex Coaching Team!

For the 2025-2026 Season

Dear Vortex Families,

We are excited to introduce our coaching team for this season! Our athletes are in great hands with a strong group of returning coaches, new additions, and the support of our older athletes stepping into Jr. Coach roles.

PS Photos are coming soon.

8U & 10U

Coaches Eithne, Natalie, and Hana return this season, and we are thrilled to welcome back Liam and Nikka after a couple of years away from water polo. As in past seasons, our older athletes will also be in the pool as Jr. Coaches, supporting both athletes and coaches.

12U

Veteran coaches and educators James Villa and Matt Henderson will lead our 12U group. They’ll be joined by several of our 16U-18U competitive athletes, who will bring valuable mentorship in the water.

14U Girls

We are pleased to welcome Sarah Boehm from Ontario to the Vortex coaching team. Sarah competed in the NCL with several different teams in Ontario, and she’s now in Winnipeg for university. She is eager and enthusiastic to work with our 14U Girls. Supporting her will be coaches Mike and Ana, with Julian assisting at times, along with help from our 16U-18U competitive athletes.

PS Sarah has a night class on Mondays so she will see everyone on Wednesdays and Fridays.

14U Boys

Men’s Head Coach, Julian Del Campo, will play a very active role leading this group with coaches Lex and Greg (who grew up playing water polo in Ottawa and is now stationed in Winnipeg—an exciting addition to our team).

16U-18U Boys (Recreation & Competitive)

Led by Men’s Head Coach Julian Del Campo, with support from coach Mike and others.

16U-18U Girls (Recreation & Competitive)

Led by Women’s Head Coach Breda Vosters, with assistance from coaches Ana and Mike.

Goalie Training

Coach Pizey will continue as our dedicated goalie coach. Due to family and work commitments, he will be available once per week on Monday nights at 8:00 PM at Pan Am to work with goalies.

Strength and Conditioning

We’re excited to share some great news about the continued growth of our athletes at Vortex Water Polo!

As part of a new initiative with our 16U-18U Competitive Girls and Boys programs, we’re enhancing our dryland training by adding structured strength and conditioning sessions in the weight room. These sessions will be led by certified strength and conditioning specialists, ensuring athletes receive expert guidance. Strength training is a vital part of athletic development, and our coaches will help athletes make the most of their time in the weight room with safe, efficient, and effective training.

We are proud of the depth and energy our coaching staff brings to the program, and we can’t wait to see the development, teamwork, and fun that will come this season.

Go Vortex!
